Do Worry No Favors
Do you sometimes find yourself sweating the small stuff? The big stuff? How about the stuff in between? More than likely, you've answered yes to one of these. Well, I have good news - we can break free from the weight of this tool of the enemy. There is hope, there is a better way!
It was one morning that I was reading Philippians 4, and I came across the verse, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Upon reading this, I heard The Holy Spirit say, 'Do worry no favors.' I was immediately taken back at this clever statement, and then He said it again, 'Do worry no favors.' In this moment, I was being invited into a greater reality of approaching worry.
He then began to unpack this approach to worry. It goes something like this...
When we entertain worry (anxiety or stress), we are doing those things a favor. You see, nothing in the enemy's camp has any power or authority unless we first give it room. I believe this is one of the reasons why Yahweh told the serpent that he would feed off the dust of the earth - because satan would find his foothold by the deeds of the flesh. When Jesus (the greater Adam) rose out of the grave, He dealt a death blow to any and all of satans tools. Therefore, anything that manifests in our lives (whether good or bad), we have made room for it inside. In this case, when we are overcome with fear and worry, many times we have made room for it. In essence, we have done it a favor.
So friends, I urge you to do no favors to the deeds of the flesh. Lay aside the old man and take up the new one in Christ. Lay seige and starve out the tools of the enemy, choose the greater reality of trust, and choose the key of FILLING YOUR MIND WITH HIS WORD. We, in Christ, have the upper hand and we can and will advance in this journey!
Blessings!
